Scythian Energy to renovate building for $1.5 million

An oil and gas operator and consulting firm specializing in emerging technologies is set to renovate an office building in the central part of the city.

According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing, Midland-based Scythian Energy, LTD will renovate an 8,746 square-foot building at a cost of $1.5 million. The project will involve remodeling both the exterior and interior of the building, along with creating accessible entrances.

The renovation project is expected to begin on February 1 and be completed by November 30, according to the January 29 filing. The building that will be remodeled is located at 1101 W. Texas Avenue and was once home to Scout Service Center for the Boy Scouts of America.

Thomas Clifton, vice president with Scythian Energy, is leading the renovation efforts. According to his LinkedIn profile, he has been with the company for over 22 years and holds a finance degree with a concentration in real estate from Texas Christian University. The local design firm Rhotenberry Wellen Architects is involved in the project.
