A local developer has received approval for rezoning to establish a warehouse storage facility, as confirmed during the January 21 meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
According to Fierce Property Investments LLC, Managing Member Christopher Butler is leading the proposed project to develop mini storage units. The developers required rezoning because the storage unit project is not permitted under the current zoning classification of a regional retail district.
The site for this development will be located on undeveloped property at 6405 North Highway 349, as per submitted documents. Commissioners determined that since the zoning to the east and adjacent property uses to the north, south, and west are nonresidential, the proposed storage use would be compatible with the surrounding area. Ashlee Devine from Maverik Engineering, a local civil engineering firm, is part of the project team.
The City Council will vote on this recommendation at an upcoming meeting. If approved by the City Council, the property's zoning will change from a regional retail district to a commercial district.
