Dallas-based Cinergy Entertainment Group has received approval for rezoning to expand the dormant Regal Cinema location. This decision was made during the January 21 meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission.

According to Cinergy, the company plans to add an additional 94,405 square-foot building to the theater, which will potentially house a bowling alley and restaurant under its subsidiary, Cinergy 108, LLC. The vacant building is set to be renovated into a Cinergy movie theater.

Kathi Gillman, vice president of construction and capital asset purchasing with Cinergy Entertainment Group, is leading the project. The company announced its acquisition of the site in September 2023.

The empty theater is situated on a 7.88-acre property located at 4915 Loop 250 Frontage Road. City Council must approve the recommendation to rezone the site from a planned development district at an upcoming meeting. Polo Padilla from Irving-based design firm ID Studio 4 and Ashelee Devine from local civil engineering firm Maverick are part of the project team.
