The Midland County Hospital District Police Department (MCHD PD) has announced that all its full-time Texas Peace Officers, Security Officers, and Telecommunicators have completed instructor training for Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE). This training is conducted through the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) program.

CRASE training aims to prepare civilians with strategies for responding to active shooter events. Chief of Police Steven McNeill emphasized the importance of this preparation, stating, “While we hope the day never comes that this training has to be put in action, it is a top priority for our staff at MCHD PD to be equipped with the best training to protect our facility, patients, visitors and staff.” He expressed pride in his team and noted that the training enhances readiness and provides greater access for Midland Health personnel to CRASE instructors.

The completion of this training was achieved through collaboration with the Texas Engineering and Extension Service (TEEX).
