Midland Health announced that Midland Memorial Hospital was awarded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR certification for superior energy performance. This marks the eighth year that MMH has received this recognition.
“Improving the energy efficiency of our nation’s buildings is critical to protecting our environment,” said Cindy Jacobs, Chief of the ENERGY STAR Commercial & Industrial Branch. “From the boiler room to the board room, organizations are leading the way by making their buildings more efficient and earning EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification.”
The ENERGY STAR certification is awarded to buildings and plants that perform in the Top 25% nationwide based on weather-normalized source energy use. This includes considerations such as occupancy and hours of operation. It remains unique as it is based on verified actual energy performance.
ENERGY STAR certified facilities typically use 35% less energy and emit 35% fewer greenhouse gases compared to their peers while maintaining performance and comfort levels.
Thousands of buildings and plants across all 50 states have achieved this certification.
