The itinerary for the initial phases of Zoo Midland has been disclosed in a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
According to TDLR, the first phase will address infrastructure needs for the zoo. The $13.2 million project includes the installation of underground utilities, perimeter fencing, a parking lot, and light poles.
Jason Green, director of Midland Zoo, is leading the project. The zoo will be situated at 6101 West Wadley Avenue, with construction scheduled to commence on January 1 and conclude by July 31.
The TDLR report indicates that phase two involves constructing nine buildings totaling 30,537 square feet. This phase will start on March 10 and is anticipated to be completed by February 27, 2026. The zoo aims to open to the public by mid-2027.
