The Permian Basin is expected to experience unseasonably warm weather before a cold front arrives midweek.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Midland, "Warm temperatures continue into the new week. Temperatures in the 60s and 70s remain common, with plentiful sunshine. The exception is a brief cooldown on Wednesday back into the 50s. Enjoy the weather! #nmwx #txwx." Warm conditions are predicted to return by the end of the week, maintaining temperatures in the 60s.
Sunday's weather will be 10 to 15 degrees above normal for this time of year, with highs reaching the 70s by afternoon, according to NWS. The organization attributes this warmth to a westerly flow preventing colder air from entering the region temporarily.
The NWS indicates that Wednesday's cold front will introduce cooler, below-normal temperatures. The forecast includes a high of 66 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 45 for Monday, with wind gusts up to 10 miles per hour. Tuesday is expected to be sunny with a high near 68 and a low of 45. Temperatures are anticipated to drop rapidly Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with Wednesday bringing a high of 56 and a low of 33. Thursday's high will be around 58 with a low of 37, while Friday is projected to warm up slightly with a high of 63.
