Mayor Lori Blong has highlighted Midland's economic strength, emphasizing that the city's prosperity extends beyond the oil and gas industry. According to Blong, Midland also excels in the aerospace and national defense sectors.
In a Facebook post dated December 4, Blong said that transferable skills and innovation from the energy sector have contributed to creating what she described as a "synergistic relationship" with aerospace and national defense industries.
Blong pointed out a significant statistic: Midland ranks second in the United States for per capita personal income at $143,000 and is seventh among the country's fastest-growing metropolitan areas. She attributes this success to the city’s "young, dynamic population," noting that its median age is 32.
