Adan's upbringing in Midland instilled in him a strong sense of community and faith. After attending Midland Public Schools, he pursued higher education at St. Anthony's Seminary and later Texas Tech University and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Adan's career spanned various fields, from working with oil companies to his time at the Midland Independent School District, ending with his retirement from Onyx Contractors in 2022.
A devout member of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Adan played a key role in church activities, including serving as director of Altar servers and on the Parish and financial council. He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus and touched many lives through his unwavering commitment to his parish.
In 1995, Adan married his beloved wife, Helen Claire Gonzales, and together they raised four children and welcomed two grandsons. Adan cherished time spent with his family, indulging in shared hobbies like golfing, fishing, and boating. Additionally, he enjoyed barbecuing with his dear friend Tony Revilla and engaging in games with his nephews.
Adan is survived by his wife, Helen Claire, his children Michael Anthony Gonzales, Ryan Edward Olgin and wife Marjorie, Jordan Reigh Miller, and Thomas Joseph Gonzales, J.D.; his grandsons Drew Mattheiu Miller and Daren King Miller; his sisters Mary Garcia and Norma Revilla; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and brother-in-law Tony Revilla.
A viewing and Rosary service will be held at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Chapel on Sunday, November 24, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish & Shrine on Monday, November 25. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Adan's grandsons, along with friends from St. Anthony's Seminary, will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family welcomes floral arrangements or tree plantings in memory of Adan Valdez Gonzales through the Sympathy Store.
