Oliver Camargo, founder of Little Fish, said USDC, a coin pegged to the dollar and created by Circle with BlackRock as an investor, is becoming more “formal” and easier to purchase, but many people still “struggle” to see its utility, often associating it with simple transactions. Camargo was a guest on a recent episode of the Best of Midland Podcast.

“USDC was created by a company called Circle, and, you know, BlackRock is one of their investors,"  said Camargo in a recent edition of the Best of Midland Podcast. "That’ll kind of reflect how formal it’s becoming. And those are coins that are pegged to the dollar. If you’re able to purchase USDC at a reputable exchange, you should feel comfortable that it’s pegged to the dollar and that’s the equivalent of a dollar. And you’re able to actually transfer that worldwide to a friend in England or some other country.”

“And it is becoming a little easier to purchase, but I think a lot of people might struggle with cryptocurrency," said Camargo. "It’s in the name, like you said, right, because they’re really trying to buy a cup of coffee with it or find that utility. I think maybe some of the narratives that started with crypto kind of said, ‘Hey, yeah, you’ll be able to transfer money and buy a pizza.’”

In this episode, Camargo explores cryptocurrency, focusing on opportunities in West Texas and the intersection of Bitcoin mining and the energy industry. He shares his transition from San Francisco to Midland, Texas, and discusses how crypto is reshaping industries and its similarities to traditional investments. Oliver addresses common misconceptions about crypto and offers advice for newcomers.

Camargo is the founder of Little Fish, a Texas-based firm that provides actively managed investment access to emerging digital assets. With academic training in economics from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from ESADE in Barcelona, he leads the company in building a portfolio that includes utility tokens and other blockchain-based innovations.
