Dr. Becky Spurlock, Senior Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB), is set to return as the keynote speaker for the Midland Chamber’s 2024 WTX Women – Professional Women's Symposium. The event will take place on November 12 at the Bush Convention Center, located at 105 N. Main St.
According to the chamber, this year's symposium will focus on "the importance of clarity in values, goals, and aspirations," with its theme being "purposeful choices."
Spurlock expressed her enthusiasm for participating in the event through a video posted by the chamber on its Facebook page on October 30. She described her role as an honor and noted her involvement since the symposium's inception four years ago. "I’ve seen the kind of personal and professional connections that women from across West Texas have been able to make at the conference that last far beyond the day itself," she said.
According to the post, Spurlock holds a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Texas A&M University (TAMU) and both bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas State University. Her career spans over 25 years of experience on college campuses in Texas and Tennessee.
