A man of action and kindness, John was known for his poise and leadership in times of need. An avid fly fisherman with a passion for the sport in Wyoming, he also enjoyed golfing and cherished moments spent with his beloved French Bulldogs, Max and Adele. He exuded a spirit of perseverance, turning challenges into moments of joy and laughter for all those around him.
In 2001, John and his family relocated to Calgary, Alberta, where they resided for 18 years. Embracing the community at the Calgary Church of Christ, John actively participated in weekly services and small group gatherings. A lover of nature, he reveled in the majesty of the Canadian Rockies, often spending serene days floating down the Bow River with his fishing companions, Kim and Quinn, and enjoying summers on the local golf courses.
Throughout his dynamic career journey, John worked diligently at Wood Group ESP, advancing to the positions of Vice President Canada and Director of Artificial Lift at Summit ESP. Recognized for his compassion and dedication, John earned the admiration of colleagues and employees alike. As a supportive and inspiring leader, he established deep connections based on respect and encouragement.
Survived by his loving wife, Tyra Hedges, daughter Ashley Redwine, sister Adrienne Smith, brother-in-law Todd Smith, niece Saige Smith, and nephew Cy Smith, John leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and professional excellence. John's memory will continue to be cherished by those who knew him.
A memorial service in honor of John Farrar Hedges will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Friday, October 25th at 2:00 pm. The family kindly requests donations to the American Heart Association in his memory.
