After studying civil engineering and topography in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Nicandro pursued a career in the oil & gas industry, working in various locations such as Puebla, Houston, Venezuela, Villahermosa, and Aruba. He cherished spending time with his family, playing games, discussing current events, and enjoying music. Nicandro loved traveling, camping, hiking in Fort Davis, and cooking for his loved ones. He also enjoyed woodworking and following soccer, particularly supporting the Mexico national team.
Nicandro is survived by his wife, Maria Dolores R. Benavides, daughters Corina Benavides Castillo (Sonny) and Mercedes Benavides Flores (Marco), son Alan Benavides (Nancy), seven grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his siblings and extended family.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home in Midland, TX, with a rosary to follow. The Mass will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Odessa, TX.
Pallbearers will include family members and friends who held a special place in Nicandro's life.
The family expresses deep gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of loss. Contributions of kindness and prayers have been a source of comfort and strength.
