A break from the heat could be approaching Midland. Despite it being mid-October, temperatures this weekend reached the mid-90s.
According to the National Weather Service, Columbus Day will have a high of 88 and a low of 58. Tuesday will see a high of 89 and a low of 55 before high pressure over the region cools down the weather by the middle of the week.
"Despite autumn and the cold burst to their north, where else but the Desert Southwest and the Deep South would the summer linger as deep into fall as this Monday? Summery 80s and 90s bake the South yet again to the west of Georgia, while the Desert Southwest may as well blister on ridiculous mid-October 100s. Now that is a fright," said WeatherBug's Keegan Miller.
The National Weather Service forecasts that Wednesday will see a high of 74 and a low of 55, while Thursday will see a high of 76 and low of 63. Friday will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 75 and scattered showers and thunderstorms with a low around 62. The scattered storm trend will continue on Saturday with a high near 75 and a low around 62.
