Keep Midland Beautiful (KMB) has announced a new partnership with ConocoPhillips to serve as the presenting sponsor for the Clean Campus Competition and In-School Recycling Program throughout Midland-area schools. Sixteen schools are participating in both programs this year.
The Clean Campus Competition, an annual initiative by KMB, encourages Midland schools to engage in activities that promote cleanliness, reduce waste, and enhance environmental stewardship. According to ConocoPhillips, the 2024 competition motivated students to maintain their school' environments and participate in long-term beautification efforts.
KMB's Clean Campus Competition invites public and private schools to compete in categories such as Cleanest Campus, Greenest Campus, and Beautification Campus. The Spring 2024 winners were Bowie Elementary and Goddard Junior High (Cleanest Campus), Milam Elementary and Legacy Senior High (Greenest Campus), and Fannin Elementary and Goddard Junior High (Beautification Award).
ConocoPhillips is also sponsoring the In-School Recycling Program for the 2024-2025 academic year. The program educates students about recycling and provides schools with tools to implement recycling practices. During 2024, participating schools recycled over 10,000 pounds of paper, nearly 2,000 pounds of plastic, 86 pounds of aluminum cans, and nearly 7,000 pounds of cardboard.
“We are incredibly grateful to ConocoPhillips for their support,” said Joy Paulson, Executive Director of KMB. “Their sponsorship allows us to enhance our programs and expand our reach, ultimately creating a cleaner and greener Midland.”
ConocoPhillips was also awarded KMB’s Public Service Award for its continued support of waste-reduction initiatives during the recent Trio of Gardens event.
