Junior high school students at a local school were informed about the dangers of vaping through a biannual magazine that previews football teams in the state.

"Alamo Junior High students learned about the dangers of vaping as a part of Dave Campbell's statewide tour. The interactive trailer included handouts as well as a video wall, quizzes, pledge cards, and arcade games all geared towards saying NO to vaping! #MadeinMISD," the district said on Facebook.

According to Dave Campbell's Texas Football website, the sports outlet is currently conducting a "Loudest Student Section Challenge" in collaboration with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to help students make a pledge to never start vaping. The contest runs from Sept. 3 to Oct. 31. Dave Campbell is encouraging students to save their breath for positive activities such as cheering on their team, performing well on and off the field, and showing school spirit.

"Vaping can make it harder for you to achieve your goals, both academically and athletically," the website states. "It causes brain fog, depression, anxiety, and poor athletic performance. People may know that nicotine is addicting, but they likely don’t realize it can rewire the teenage brain."
