The RockHounds' pitching staff led the local Double-A Baseball team to five wins out of six games against the San Antonio Missions. The win moves the team closer to a playoff spot in the Texas League.
Jack Perkins allowed one run over seven innings in a 4-1 victory on Sunday, bringing the RockHounds within reach of a postseason berth, according to a press release by the Rockhounds staff writer Bob Hards.
A three-run second inning, with key hits from Brayan Buelvas, Jordan Groshans, and Caeden Trenkle, gave the RockHounds a lead they held onto. Buelvas went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs, a walk, and a stolen base.
Throughout the series, the RockHounds' pitching posted a 2.00 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, and a 5:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, containing the Missions' offense. The RockHounds are now one game behind the Frisco RoughRiders for the best record in the Texas League.
The RockHounds will host the Amarillo Sod Poodles in their final regular-season homestand from September 3-7, with each game critical as they aim for the Texas League title.
The Rockhounds are the minor league affiliate of the Oakland A’s.
