RockHounds Push Toward Playoffs with Win Over Missions

In a crucial game on Tuesday, August 27, the Midland RockHounds erased a 2-0 deficit to defeat the San Antonio Missions 5-4 at Nelson Wolff Stadium. The win marked the opener of a six-game series that is pivotal in the RockHounds' push for a spot in the Texas League playoffs.

San Antonio starter Ryan Bergert retired the first 12 batters, giving the Missions an early advantage. The RockHounds got on the board in the fifth inning with a two-out RBI triple from Henry Bolte. They tied the game in the sixth on Daniel Susac’s sacrifice fly. In the eighth, Will Simpson, in his Double-A debut, broke the tie with an RBI double, followed by Brayan Buelvas' two-run double, which provided the winning runs.

Despite a late two-run home run from Robert Perez Jr. of the Missions, the RockHounds held on, with Sam Elledge securing the save. The RockHounds, now 71-50, remain focused on their goal of becoming Texas League champions as they continue their thrilling playoff push.

The RockHounds will conclude their road series in San Antonio by September 1 before returning to Momentum Bank Ballpark from September 3-7 to face Amarillo. Every game is crucial as the team chases the ultimate goal towards Texas League champions.
