To promote the Midland Development Corporation’s Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge, the city of Midland spotlighted Pachuco’s, one of last year’s winners.
Pachuco’s is a barbecue restaurant that began as a food truck in 2019. According to an August 27 Facebook post by the city, the eatery’s proprietor won a transformative $125,000 prize, which went toward upgrades to the restaurant’s kitchen.
Participants in the Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge get access to one-on-one business coaching from America’s Small Business Development Center at University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB). The journey culminates with a share of $500,000 awarded to local entrepreneurs.
The challenge includes consulting, structure, lending, marketing, development, and potential funding. While the first 2024-2025 orientation session is fully booked, there are two remaining on September 11 and 12 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification (CEED) Building at 1310 FM 1788 North in Midland.
