Details regarding the cost and timeline of the Costco slated for development have been revealed in a filing with a state regulatory agency.

According to the filing, the 182,000 square-foot big box store that will be located at the southeast corner of Texas State Highway 191 and Texas State Highway 158 is expected to cost $21 million. The project is expected to begin on Dec. 2 and be completed by April 11, 2025. The Seattle, Washington-based design firm MG2 Architecture Corporation is on board the project team.

The Midland Costco will also come with a 15,000 square-foot gas station that will cost $3.8 million, according to a separate filing. The timeline for the construction of the fuel station is the same as the store.

According to a City of Midland Facebook post, an economic agreement calls for Costco to invest $50 million in capital improvements and employ 100 full-time employees. The retailer is the most requested store by area citizens, and city leaders believe the development project will spur future development in the area.
