At the 2024 State of Education Luncheon held on Aug. 15, President and CEO of the Midland Chamber of Commerce Evan Thomas announced the opening of nominations for the Chamber’s awards. The public is encouraged to submit nominations for several categories, including three new awards introduced this year.
The new awards are the Citizen of the Year, the Heart of Midland Award for Small Business, and the Heart of Midland Award for Large Business. These awards will join the long-established Wynn Award.
“Nominating individuals and businesses is a powerful way to commend the hard work and dedication of deserving Midlanders,” Chairman of the Midland Chamber Shaun Rainey said. “The nomination process empowers our community members to honor the people and businesses that make our community a better place to live and work.”
The Citizen of the Year Award will honor an individual who has enhanced the community and inspired others through achievements in volunteer work, leadership, advocacy, or acts of kindness from June 30, 2023, to July 1, 2024.
The Heart of Midland Award will recognize two businesses for their community support—one large business (51 employees or more) and one small business (50 employees or less). These awards celebrate organizations that have demonstrated positive impact in Midland.
The Wynn Award, named in honor of Marvin Wynn, former CEO of the Midland Chamber, is presented to an individual who has made significant and sustained contributions to Midland over at least ten years.
Nominations are open until Aug. 27 and can be submitted online at midland.biz/chamberawards.
The Midland Chamber of Commerce also announced its 2024 Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon on Sept. 25, at the Bush Convention Center. The event will celebrate the achievements of the past year, look ahead to future goals, and officially install the new Board of Directors. It will also be a platform to honor individuals and businesses within the Midland community.
