The United Way of Midland (UWM) is expected to spend a year adding a new addition to its facility and renovating its existing building, according to a filing with a state regulatory agency.
According to the filing, United Way of Midland, Inc., led by President & CEO Kari Hennagin, will develop the UWM project at a cost of $1.3 million. The cost of work involves a new 3,000 square-foot addition to the facility.
Work on the project is expected to begin on Oct. 15 and be completed by Oct. 1, 2025, according to the filing. The local design firm NC Sturgeon, LP worked on the project, which is located at 1209 West Wall Street.
Hennagin was hired to run UWM in May of 2020 and had previously served as the executive director of the Red Cross in the Texas Big Country in Abilene in charge of 38 counties, according to the organization. "During my time of employment in the non-profit sector, I have been privileged to work with incredible volunteers, board members, donors and community partners," Hennagin said at the time. "I know the United Way will be no different. Working together, I'm eager to jump in and serve this community."
