A major convenience store chain with a strong presence in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico will begin construction on a new store in August.

According to a filing with a state regulatory agency, Midland-based Kent Companies will develop the 6,200 square-foot Kent Kwik 327. The $4 million project involves building a new convenience store and rollover car wash.

There are 14 Kent Kwik locations in Midland, according to the company's website. The business is a subsidiary of The Kent Companies, which also includes Rustic Café; Mr. Payroll Check Cashing; Kent Tire; Kent Lube; Huddle House and Baskin Robbins locations among its portfolio.

Construction on Kent Kwik 327 is expected to begin Aug. 1 and be completed by Feb. 1, 2025, according to the state regulatory filing. The location will be situated on the southwest corner of Thomason Drive and North Loop 250 West. Jenks-Oklahoma-based Zemanek Architecture +Design, PLLC is the design firm for the project.

In May, the company announced that it had acquired Jack’s Convenience Stores, solidifying its presence in West Texas. "As a local West Texas company, we are thrilled to welcome the Jack’s Convenience Stores into the Kent Kwik family," said owner Bill Kent. "The Jack’s stores have been excellent competition for many years and now we are excited to call them family. This acquisition not only strengthens our local presence but also reinforces our dedication to supporting the communities we serve," said Kent.
