Alldredge Gardens is set to host its next Market at the Gardens event on July 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 3300 N. Fairgrounds Road. This vibrant community event, held the first Saturday of each month from March through December, features approximately 25 small businesses from the Permian Basin, each offering unique products and services.
The Market at the Gardens began in 2012 as a traditional farmers market, inspired by the excess vegetable crops grown for the Café at the Gardens.
“The idea was to bring a different group of people out to the nursery to experience what Alldredge had to offer, while being sure that no excess produce went to waste,” said McKenna Jenkins, Alldredge’s Sales and Marketing Director.
Over the years, the market has expanded to include various vendors. Attendees can enjoy brunch at the Café at the Gardens, shop with local vendors, participate in children’s activities, and stroll through the nursery and garden center.
“Vendors offer a wide variety of items and services like freshly baked bread, permanent jewelry, pet adoption, pickled goods, stonework and geodes, local honey, macarons, and so more,” Jenkins said.
Jenkins expressed her hopes that the event will inspire visitors to develop a new love for the outdoors, gardening, and community.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to extend a helping hand to small businesses in our community by allowing them a new place to promote their products and business as a whole,” she added.
Community involvement and education are at the heart of Alldredge’s mission. The garden employs certified horticulturists to assist customers and provide educational resources.
“We love providing a place for our community that Midland area residents can come to relax, learn something new, and enjoy a day in the Oasis in the Desert!” Jenkins said.
