A Christian rock band that gained prominence in the 1980s is set to perform at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center in Midland on September 26. The concert is part of Stryper’s 40th Anniversary Tour, with a pre-sale of tickets ongoing through June 28 at 9 a.m.

According to the Wagner Noël PAC’s June 26 Facebook post, individuals who purchase seats during the pre-sale window must enter the code "40ANNIV" into the "PRESALE" box. The pre-sale is exclusive online, the post said.

According to Encyclopedia.com, Stryper was formed by brothers Robert and Michael Sweet, Oz Fox, and Timothy Gaines in 1983. Taking its name from the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament, Stryper was an anomaly during the hair metal era, performing religious-themed songs and tossing miniature Bibles during concerts. The band has released 13 studio albums, including 1986’s platinum-selling "To Hell with the Devil."
