State Senator Kevin Sparks, who represents Midland, joined numerous volunteers to pick up trash along the Eastbound I-20 on June 15.

The event was orchestrated by Keith Stelter, Chief Strategy Officer of American Safety Services. Numerous local businesses joined the effort, including Birch Resources, Midland Times and over 60 additional volunteers. “The substantial volunteer turnout underscores a collective dedication from individuals and companies that truly love West Texas,” said Stelter.

Many companies contributed to the Eastbound I-20 clean up project by bringing trailers, vests, trash sacks and other resources.

Senator Sparks told Midland Times at the clean up that it's “imperative” for all I-20 travelers to uphold the cleanliness of the Texas roadways, whether they are local or from out of the state. “Keeping a clean state is about personal responsibility,” said Sparks.

Senator Sparks added that his team will be working closely with local programs to help “gain traction” on trash cleaning initiatives and helping people understand personal responsibility.

Additional clean up opportunities are in the works in West Texas. More information can be found at https://www.linkedin.com/in/keith-stelter-575b9312/
