Maverick Players will begin their residency at Midland College (MC) with the presentation of "Wedding Secrets II: Samantha’s Turn" on June 21. MC’s auditorium at the Allison Fine Arts Building, located at 3600 N. Garfield, will host the troupe.

According to a June 12 Facebook post by the Maverick Players, "Wedding Secrets II" is a sequel to "Wedding Secrets Number One," which they produced about two years ago. The post states that the current play finds main character Samantha Thompson preparing for a destination wedding at a bed and breakfast.

Andy Salcedo directs the play, which stars Vivian Willoughby, Buddy Fazzio, Stretch Werner, Richard Werner, Mary Lou McDonald, Mark McDonald, Garrett Dalton, Nicole Dalton, Ana Munoz, Kaiden Rodriguez, Hailey Eakle, Will Garlington, Denise Moore, and Charlotte Larson.

The troupe said the box office is open for reservations for close-up seating. With the Maverick Players’ new home, Salcedo said a parking lot separates the Fine Arts Building from other facilities, prompting the use of golf carts.

This show and future ones carry an open seat policy in which guests purchase tickets and find their seats. Opening Night tickets cost $20. Call the box office at (432) 260-0044 for reservations or questions.

Midland Reporter-Telegram reported that the Maverick Players are an all-volunteer community theater that specializes in comedies. According to the publication, the group has performed over 80 productions at Midland Park Mall, the Yucca Theatre, Midland Center and Midland Community Theatre during its 25-year history.
