The River Fine Arts is gearing up to host its “Can We Build It?” mini-camp from June 10 through 14, from 10 a.m. to noon daily at 4400 N Big Spring Suite C38 in Midland. This engaging camp offers two tracks for young campers: Track 1 is tailored for ages 2 to 5, focusing on dance, art, and theatre, while Track 2 caters to ages 4 to 6, emphasizing art and STEM projects.
River Fine Arts describes the “Can We Build It?” mini-camp as “the camp for all the littles who like to dream and build.” The camp aims to explore “What kinds of wonderful things can we build with our bodies and art supplies?” This creative experience costs $25 for a single day or $100 for the entire week.
Lauren Knowles, the founder and creative director of The River Fine Arts, shared that the organization opened in the summer of 2021 with just a few summer camps. Since then, they have expanded their summer offerings with various themes and shows. This year marks the debut of the building-themed camp.
“We love introducing students to the arts and helping them learn about their world and their purpose through the arts. We try to offer affordable arts education for everyone,” Knowles said.
Knowles anticipates eight to 12 children attending the camp, engaging in numerous, open-ended building opportunities designed for curious young minds.
“We hope that the students will be inspired to build and create and that they will discover skills in themselves as artists and performers,” she said. “Our hope is to continue expanding our programs to more ages, days, and times and to keep arts education accessible.”
The River’s summer camps are known for their messy creations, playful discoveries, and a lot of love for their students, according to Knowles. This summer, The River Fine Arts will offer a variety of mini camps, providing plenty of opportunities for students to join in throughout the season.
