The Midland Fire Department (MFD) responded to a residence on fire in the 2000 block of Jadewood Drive on the evening of May 30. The family residing in the house sustained no injuries but was displaced by the blaze, according to MFD.
Permian Basin stations KMID and KPEJ News reported that the fire occurred just as Midland and surrounding areas encountered severe inclement weather. According to the stations, MFD's efforts were affected by the weather, high heat, and the blaze itself.
MFD is currently investigating the fire. Permian Basin CBS affiliate KOSA News reported that the cause remains unknown.
The agency responded to another fire on the morning of May 31, this time in the 1300 block of East County Road 140. A Facebook post said that the fire damaged two vehicles and an RV while another RV sustained smoke and heat damage.
A family of five didn't suffer any injuries and is being immediately assisted by the American Red Cross, according to the post.
