A Midland Mexican restaurant has closed its doors after nearly 50 years of operation. Founded in 1979, El Burrito Restaurant at 1106 N Big Spring St. served its last meal earlier this month.
According to a May 22 Facebook post, the eatery's owner explained that they made the decision to sell and are looking forward to new ventures. The post stated that the past 45 years were successful due to the hard work of the owner's parents, the staff, and customers.
The Midland Reporter-Telegram reported that an unknown party purchased El Burrito, which was well known for serving dishes such as burritos, tacos, and enchiladas.
According to the publication, numerous customers mourned the loss of the restaurant.
While it is unclear what the new plans are, El Burrito mentioned it will feature some of its favorite dishes at Taco diVino from time to time. The eatery's post concluded by thanking Midland and saying it will miss everyone who has walked through its doors.
