The Midland City Council's May 28 regular meeting marked the first for newly elected At-Large Councilman Eric Davidson. Davidson took the oath of office prior to the meeting.

Davidson emerged victorious in a special election held earlier this month. He defeated a crowded field with 43% of the vote. According to Permian Basin CBS affiliate KOSA News, since the vote came down to who received a plurality, he wasn't required to garner more than 50%.

Davidson is the successor to the late Dan Corrales, who tragically died from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound earlier this year, as reported by Midland Times citing KOSA. Corrales's term was set to expire in January 2025.

On his campaign website, Davidson described himself as "a down-to-earth guy with a heart for our city and the ability to get things done." He currently holds a position as director of operations at Select Chemistry and is a family man with two children.
