The Midland Police Department (MPD) announced that it has located a male motorist who allegedly fled the scene of a collision with pedestrians on Memorial Day. Authorities said the incident is under investigation and charges are pending.

According to a May 27 press release issued by the city of Midland, the collision’s roots trace back to a confrontation outside of La Cantina a little before 2 a.m.

The physical confrontation began in the northeast corner of the business’s parking lot and extended into the eastbound lanes of the 200 block of East Florida.

According to the release, a pair of pedestrians were in the outside lane and subsequently hit by a midsize maroon Cadillac SUV.

MPD reported that the vehicle traveled eastbound and appeared to be in both lanes of travel.

The release said that the SUV’s operator didn’t slow down for the victims but, according to a witness, instead fled the scene by turning north.

One pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries while the other was listed in stable condition.

Authorities identified the driver as 36-year-old Danny Paul Rodriguez, according to the release.
