TxDOT develops plan for statewide multimodal transit

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is in the process of developing a Statewide Multimodal Transit Plan (SMTP). This initiative aims to take a comprehensive look at both current and emerging forms of public transportation, as well as the intersection between transit and active transportation.

The SMTP is intended to support local and regional public transportation plans, identify gaps and opportunities, and develop strategies to address future challenges. The goal is to lay a foundation for future transit initiatives that can accommodate the needs of a growing state.

By developing the SMTP, TxDOT seeks to formulate strategies that will enhance access, connectivity, safety, and congestion relief across Texas.
