A 34-year-old man was arrested following an alleged shooting incident in the 6700 block of Rio Bravo on May 21. The Midland Police Department charged Samuel Omamogho with murder for the killing of John Richard, a 41-year-old resident of Midland.

According to a press release issued by the city on May 22, law enforcement officers responding to the scene discovered a man kneeling in the roadway holding a firearm, with the victim lying nearby.

The same release indicated that detectives reviewed camera footage showing the suspect firing at a residence and at the male in the roadway. This information was reported by Permian Basin NBC affiliate KWES News.

The police apprehended Omamogho at the scene, as stated in the release. The investigation into this case is ongoing.

Permian Basin stations KMID and KPEJ reported that jail records from Midland County Detention Center show that Omamogho remained in custody as of Wednesday morning.

These stations also reported that a video on Facebook featured a man walking through a north Midland neighborhood brandishing a firearm.
