Willis Electric has secured another contract from the city of Midland, emerging as the sole bidder for the Traffic Operation Division's On-Call Traffic Signal Contract. The Midland City Council has approved this contract, which is not to exceed $500,000.

According to the results agenda for the May 14 Midland City Council meeting, Willis Electric, a firm based in Abilene, Texas, will be on standby for the maintenance and replacement of traffic equipment. The contractor is also expected to install new traffic control devices.

City Traffic Engineer Taha Sakrani communicated in a memo to Purchasing Manager Erika Martinez that Willis Electric will be assigned individual tasks as per the results agenda for the May 14 Midland City Council meeting. Sakrani stated that payment would be calculated based on the quantities of individual items used and the unit prices stipulated in the contract.

A previous report by Midland Times reveals that in April, Willis Electric was awarded a $622,177 contract for a two-intersection traffic signal project. At that time, the firm was engaged in work at Lamesa and Gist Avenue and at Mockingbird and Magellan/Stonebridge intersections.
