On May 15, Safe Place of the Permian Basin marked the inauguration of its new 40,500-square-foot facility. The occasion was celebrated with the Midland Chamber among the distinguished guests.
The Midland Chamber, in a Facebook post, detailed that the new facility comprises 24 units. Each unit is equipped with two queen-sized beds, a living area, a sleeper sofa, and a restroom.
In addition to providing residential facilities, Safe Place of the Permian Basin extends its services to non-residents by offering support groups, individual counseling, and personal and legal advocacy.
KWES News, an NBC affiliate in the Permian Basin, reported that the design and construction project bore a $25 million cost. KWES also noted that substantial donations were made to facilitate the opening of this location.
According to a post by the Midland Chamber, Safe Place serves as a sanctuary where survivors can find comfort, support and an avenue to regain control over their lives. They encouraged anyone seeking assistance to contact Safe Place at 1 (800) 967-8928.
Safe Place was founded in 1978 as per information on its website. The organization's mission is to disrupt the cycle of family violence by empowering individuals to make safe and healthy choices through awareness initiatives, counseling services, advocacy efforts and shelter provisions while promoting hope, healing and dignity.
