An incident allegedly occurred at a West Midland apartment complex on the morning of May 17, leading to the arrest of a 33-year-old man. The Midland Police Department apprehended Pete Gonzalez and charged him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Family Violence. This followed claims that he had threatened a woman and three children at Northridge Courts Apartments, located in the 3400 block of West Wadley Avenue.

According to an official statement issued by the city, local authorities conducted a welfare check at the complex around 3:50 a.m., prompted by the female victim's report. She claimed that Gonzalez had threatened her with a knife, forcing her to abandon her apartment.

The city's statement further disclosed that Gonzalez had also allegedly made threats towards the three children who remained inside the apartment.

Police were eventually able to establish contact with Gonzalez. Following negotiations between him and law enforcement officers, he surrendered himself into custody.

Varghese Summersett, a law firm based in North Texas, provides some context regarding the charges against Gonzalez. According to them, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon is typically classified as a second-degree felony in Texas. If convicted, it carries penalties including at least two years in prison and fines up to $10,000.
