Eric Davidson, the newly elected At-Large Representative for Midland City Council, expressed his eagerness to serve the community following the unofficial results from Midland County. These results indicated his victory in a competitive race that took place on May 4. Davidson secured nearly 43% of the vote, surpassing John Burkholder and Ben Roberts.
"Thank you Midland," said Davidson for Midland, Councilmember-elect, according to Facebook. "I'm honored by your support, and can't wait to serve the community that we love as your At-Large City Councilman."
Once the results are officially canvassed and Davidson is declared the winner, he will succeed the late Dan Corrales at the council horseshoe.
According to KOSA News, a CBS affiliate in Permian Basin, Davidson decided to run for this position with an aim to make Midland attractive to people outside of the region.
As reported by Midland Times, Davidson will complete Corrales's term which runs through January 2025. The publication also noted that if Davidson wishes to serve another term, he will need to run for office again in November of that year.
Corrales's untimely death earlier this year was due to an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On his campaign website, Davidson described himself as "a down-to-earth guy with a heart for our city and the ability to get things done." He currently holds a position as director of operations at Select Chemistry and is a family man with two children.
