U.S. Rep. August Pfluger (R-11) led 18 Texas House Republicans in urging the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security to reimburse Texas for the cost of securing the southwest border.
Texas has been particularly impacted by the influx of illegal border crossings.
House Republicans wrote in a letter to the subcommittee that, "Securing our homeland is a chief responsibility of the federal government.” They stated that Texas has "faced the brunt of the 7.9 million individuals entering the United States across the southwestern border."
Congressman Pfluger and his colleagues are calling on the subcommittee to provide $11.26 billion to address the security and humanitarian crisis at the border.
The other Texas members of Congress who signed the letter include Representatives Randy Weber, Pete Sessions, Michael McCaul, Monica Del La Cruz, Michael Cloud, Troy Nehls, Roger Williams, Keith Self, Pat Fallon, Chip Roy, Morgan Luttrell, Jodey Arrington, Michael Burgess, Brian Babin, Nathaniel Moran, Lance Gooden, Ronny Jackson, and Dan Crenshaw.
