The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) of the city of Midland is set to partake in a unique project at Butler Park, located at 3801 Bluebird Lane, on May 4. The council will be involved in painting the restroom facility at the park.

According to city officials, Butler Park is a community park that spans across 33 acres and facilitates various sports such as baseball, softball, and soccer. It boasts concession buildings, grills, a pavilion, picnic areas with tables, and a playground. The park remains open for public use from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The formation of YAC has been made possible through a collaboration between the city and the Bush Family Home State Historic Site, as stated by the city in their post dated May 1. The members of YAC gain insights into municipal government operations, networking opportunities, public service norms and leadership skills.

The ultimate objective is to encourage young individuals to become proactive community members and leave an enduring impact on their city's future, as per the aforementioned post.

The council welcomes students from grades 10 through 12. As part of their membership obligations, they are required to participate in a service project devised by the group itself. The YAC holds its meetings once every month on the fourth Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., hosted at the Bush Family Home State Historic Site.
