Midland Legacy sweeps Amarillo in double header

Midland Legacy has finished out their early season tournaments and most recently wrapped up a double header with Amarillo on March 12, where the Rebels came out on top in both games in convincing fashion.

Midland Legacy swept Amarillo, as the Rebels were able to jump out early in both games to take commanding victories of 8-0 and 11-6.

In game one, Midland Legacy put five on the board int he first, and then three more in the second inning to go up 8-0. 

The combination of Cam McClinton and Nick Rentana on the mound was dominant. McClinton pitched five innings of four hit ball, allowing two walks while striking out five batters. Rentana had two innings of perfect ball that included a strikeout.

Andres Cordero was 2-for-3 with a homer, three RBIs an a pair of runs scored in the win. Ean Shadden went 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs in the offensive surge by the Rebels.

Aiden Serrano also knocked in a run, going 2-for-3 with a triple and a pair of runs scored.

Game 2

In the second game, Midland Legacy put an eight spot on the scoreboard in the first inning and then tacked on three late runs to secure an 11-6 win over the Sandies.

Serrano was the star of the day with a 2-for-2 showing, including a homer and a triple. He knocked in two runs and score another pair.

The team had three triples on the day, with Duncan Hayes and Trajan Chavez belting one each. Chavez also had an RBI and two runs scored in the win. 

Jaden Rogers walked twice, knocked a double, had three RBIs and a run scored in the game. 

Caiden Olivas went 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Cordero also knocked in a pair of runs on a single, and had a run scored. Cole Neatherlin knocked in two runs and went 1-for-2 with a walk.

Picking up the win was Lawson Watters, who threw two innings allowing two unearned runs. He struck out three batters and walked two. 

Next up is tournament play for the Rebels, who kick things off at home against Frenship on March 21 at 6 p.m.
