Odessa 4x400 meter relay team wins gold at Tall City Relays

Odessa competed in the Rogers Ford Tall City Relays last week for their first track and field meet of the season, with the boys’ team placing sixth with 61 points led by a first place finish for the 4x400 meter relay team.

Boys’ meet results:

Boys Odessa performers:

The 4x400 meter relay team had the sole win for Odessa, taking the gold medal with a time of 3:31.96. The team included Alex Camacho, Xavier Urias, Zybri Morrison and Jaybrion Jones.

400 meters: Alex Camacho had a solid fifth place finish with a time of 54.02.

800 meters: Evan Sanchez was fifth in the race with a time of 2:06.68.

300 meter hurdles: Ieland Gonzales placed sixth with a time of 43.97.

4x100 meters: Odessa’s 4x100 meter relay team took the silver medal with a time of 43.62. The team included Jones, Morrison, Marc Minjarez and Xavier Urias.

4x200 meters: The 4x200 meter team took sixth, earning two points with a time of 1:35.03. The team included Minjarez, James Skiles, Landon Wilkerson and Ronnie Martinez.

Pole Vault: Skiles placed second with a height of 12 feet, 6 inches for eight points.

Long Jump: Morrison was fourth with a distance of 19 feet, 5 inches.

Triple Jump: Morrison was third with a distance of 42 feet, 3 inches.

Discus: Ryan Sanchez just missed earning points with a seventh place distance of 118 feet, 9 inches. He was one inch behind Aiden Brito of Midland for sixth place.

Girls’ top performers:

400 meters: Raquel Martinez was 11th with a time of 1:09.51.

800 meters: Martinez took 10th with a time of 2:38.65.

300 meter hurdles: Arianna Salgado was ninth with a time of 55.97.
