Eric Baker, also known as eb_trumpet, has become a social media sensation, captivating audiences on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook with his humorous trumpet videos. The Director of Community Engagement in Music and Visual Arts at the University of the Permian Basin (UTPB) gained national recognition as his content landed him a feature on the Today Show.

Baker's trumpet performances, filled with humor and musical prowess, have garnered him thousands of followers across various social media platforms. A recent video showcased Eric Baker at a school pickup in Midland, Texas, when he decided to announce his arrival to his daughter by playing Tequila with his trumpet through the sunroof of the car. The video has gone viral and lead him to become featured on the Today Show.

With over 30 years of trumpet-playing experience, Baker blends musical talent with humor. Despite his background in the performing arts, Baker expressed his astonishment at the widespread reach his posts have achieved.

“It is shocking to me. I have been in the performing arts for a long time, and I am comfortable in front of a crowd,” said Baker. “The scale of the reach my posts have achieved is wild.”

Joining the UTPB community in his first year, Baker is committed to leveraging his online platform to spread positivity and joy. His followers resonate with his passion for music, relatable daily life snippets, and the close bond he shares with his daughter. Reflecting on his newfound online fame, Baker highlighted the organic and in-the-moment nature of his best-performing videos, ranging from "Trumpet Mic’d Up" clips to glimpses into his life as a musician.

Reveling in the positive comments and shared moments that bring smiles to his followers' faces, Baker emphasized the joy he derives from his online presence. 

“It is so wonderful to read all the positive comments and see folks share things that bring a smile to their faces,” said Baker. “Remember, music Is fun!”
