Schlumberger Limited has made a donation of $150,000 to the City of Midland for the construction and installation of playground equipment, solar lighting, and other amenities at Grassland Park in west Midland. The council gave its approval for the acceptance of this donation during its meeting in December.

According to a press release issued by Midland on Jan. 26, this donation has increased the total funding available for Grasslands and Tumbleweed Parks projects to $700,000. The city has plans to utilize $425,000 from these funds specifically for Grasslands Park.

Representatives from Schlumberger Limited first approached city staff about making a donation in August 2023, as stated in another press release issued by Midland on Jan. 26. After several meetings with city staff, Schlumberger decided to contribute towards improvements at Grasslands Park.

The same press release also revealed that Schlumberger was interested in the proposal to install solar pedestrian lighting and playground facilities. The company will collaborate with city staff, the Grasslands Homeowners Association (HOA), and the Parks and Recreation Commission to introduce new amenities to the park in spring and summer of 2024.
