Midland Animal Services passed on good news as the City of Midland has found a part-time veterinarian.
Animal Services Director Melissa Griffin-Hobson told members of the Animal Services Advisory Commission on Monday that a hire has taken place. She added the person will start in the next few weeks, work mostly Thursdays and Saturdays and focus on spaying and neutering anything that's adopted, “so that we are sending animals out of our facility altered, so we're not contributing to the population issue.”
Griffin-Hobson added the person will take care of sick animals at the Midland Animal Shelter, so “we try to treat versus euthanize.”
City of Midland officials are still hoping to hire a full-time veterinarian.
