Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott recently took part in a Wreaths Across America event at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Governor Abbott has participated in this wreath-laying ceremony.
According to an official release, Governor Abbott paid tribute to his brother, Bud, who served in the Navy for two decades. "I’m proud of his service to our country and the service of so many brave men and women like him," said Abbott. "By laying these wreaths, we acknowledge the sacrifice of our veterans, and we honor those who still serve the greatest nation in the history of the world."
During this poignant ceremony, Abbott presented a proclamation to 12-year-old Cedar Park native Remmer Machamer. This recognition was for Machamer's significant efforts in honoring veterans through Wreaths Across America. The release indicated that Machamer has successfully raised more than $75,000 for this non-profit organization over a period exceeding five years.
Wreaths Across America was founded in 2007 with a mission to honor fallen veterans nationwide and instill pride in younger generations.
