Midland's downtown Library at the Plaza and the Centennial Library are offering Santa letter kits this holiday season for children to craft their own letters to send to the North Pole. The initiative started Monday, Nov. 27 and will run through Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Parents and guardians can visit the circulation desk at either library location to collect a Santa letter kit for their child. Each kit includes a template for participating children, a letter from Santa, and a blank page for kids to write their own.

The initiative aims to provide an interactive experience for families in the community as well as foster creativity and holiday spirit among the children of Midland.

According to a Midland County Public Libraries Facebook post on Nov. 30, the libraries suggest that parents involve themselves by encouraging their kids to write. “Encourage your children to compose their letters using a unique template, and then drop the letters into one of our blue mailboxes,” the post said. The blue mailboxes are located within the libraries.

The Library at the Plaza is located at 301 W. Missouri Ave. and the Centennial Library is located at 2503 W. Loop 250 North. Both locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. to facilitate the pickup and drop-off of the letter kits.

Both libraries work to host programs that cater to all age groups. Examples of other upcoming events include "Lunch and Learn: Ideas for Quick and Easy Christmas Decor" on Dec. 12, “Taylor Swift's Birthday Party” on Dec. 13, and Family Night Out on Dec. 16 at the Centennial Library; and “Tiny Canvas Painting” and “Youth Crafting Hour: Snowflake Craft” on Dec. 19 at Library at the Plaza.
