Midland City Council renews the maintenance of local government firewall and antivirus software

Maintenance services in Midland City will be renewed for two years at a cost of $248,803.28, following an approval spearheaded by Councilmember Jack Ladd.

In a move outlined in the agenda minutes on the Midland City website, Councilmember Jack Ladd led the initiative to approve the software purchase from CDW Government LLC. This purchase will be facilitated through the Texas Department of Information Resources.

As per a letter posted by Jennifer Frescaz, Midland City's Chief Information Officer, on the city's website, she expounds on the importance of Security Automation Platform License and Maintenance for the city. In her statement, she expresses that it simplifies intricate security tasks which leads to substantial reductions in monthly tickets while enhancing incident response efficiency and providing cost-effectiveness.

A breakdown of the total renewal cost can be found in a pricing quote from CDW Government LLC on Midland City's website. Out of the total amount, $162,375 has been allocated for new licenses. The remaining sum includes $80,141 intended to cover fees among other expenses and $6,287.28 reserved for contract costs. In addition to this information provided in Frescaz's letter is an acknowledgment that these costs have been factored into and are catered for by the Technology Fund.
