In honor of the upcoming Halloween season, Midland Animal Services is holding an open house for adoption this week. The event started Tuesday and will last until Saturday at 2pm.
According to a Facebook post by Midland Animal Services on Wednesday, the event started off well, with many puppies being placed with families. The post also stated, "So many of our pups found their FURever homes, and best friends were made today! Thank you to everyone who came to our open house and adopted!" The event is being held at 1200 N. Fairgrounds in Midland. To prevent illnesses including distemper, parvo, and kennel cough, each dog comes with one round of vaccines.
Midland Animal Services is a branch of local government in Midland. According to the Animal Services website, the organization aims to guard public health, protect animal welfare, and service the community's animal care needs. Their website also states, "Through innovative and progressive solutions, we will strive to deliver the enforcement needed to ensure the safety and well-being of both people and animals in our community."
Midland Animal Services also intends to reunite animals with their owners when lost. The Midland Animal Services website has an extensive list of tips for pet owners who have lost their pets. Some tips include checking the lost and found ad in the newspaper or placing an ad there, coming into the shelter to look for a pet, and checking the Animal Shelter's list of deceased animals. The organization also seeks to serve the community by handling concerning pets; the website states, "If you feel an animal is a danger to the public, is in danger, or is abandoned please call Midland Animal Services at (432)685-7420."
