Andrews, TX-based Porter's has announced that the Porter family has entered into an agreement to be purchased by Littlefield, TX-headquartered Lowe's Market. The deal is set to be finalized at the start of December, at which point Lowe's will assume ownership of all ten Porter's stores, spanning from Seminole to Presidio.

In a Facebook post, Porter's expressed their gratitude to their customers and team members, saying, "The Porter family and all of our team members are incredibly grateful for the years of memories we have created with you. We cannot thank you enough for your support and look forward to serving you through our final Thanksgiving season."

Porter's, which can trace its roots back to the 1940s when Ray and Tiny Porter opened their first store, Modern Foods, has always been guided by the principles of hard work, honesty, and care for the community. Despite ownership changes and name alterations, the company has remained true to the founders' vision. "The joy and responsibility to serve people from all walks of life in our stores have been among the highest honors and pleasures for all at Porter's these last 78 years," Porter's stated. "We have been blessed to work with genuinely incredible individuals and are so grateful for our time in each of our communities."

Lowe's Markets, established by the Lowe family in 1963, shares a similar philosophy. Porter's acknowledged this, stating, "We know they will continue to take care of our customers and team members."

As the acquisition proceeds, it remains unclear what will happen to the current Porter's staff or what Lowe's has planned for the future. However, both companies are committed to providing exceptional service to their communities.
